One of the costs covered under this agreement is the department's contract with Akimeka, LLC to serve as their Wireless 911 Project Manager. The contract term with this vendor is for one year (May 1, 2007 - April 30, 2008) with the option of another year (May 1, 2008 - April 30, 2009) at the County's sole discretion. The department is requesting the additional appropriation of $415,290.55 to cover the amount needed to execute the option year of this contract. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by increasing the Wireless E911 Fees account by $415,290.55. Due to the urgency of this matter, the Police Department would like to request a waiver from the Finance Committee and to have this bill heard at the next Council meeting scheduled for April 22, 2008. Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Finance for placement on its future agenda.
