SUBJECT: Proposed Ordinance to Amend Chapter 19 of the Hawaii County Code to
Amend Section 19-2, Definitions, and to Establish a New Article Relating
to Tax Credits
Attached for your consideration is a proposed ordinance to amend chapter 19 of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) to establish a solar water heater
tax credit. To accomplish this end, this proposed ordinance would add new definitions to
section 19-2 and establish a new article that would provide a one-time tax credit per tax
map key of up to $300 for the installation of a solar water heater on a single-family
dwelling, ohana dwelling, farm dwelling, duplex, or double-family dwelling unit(s). In
addition, this proposed ordinance makes non-substantive formatting changes to section
19-2, relating to definitions.
