Aloha Council members,
• Please LET VOTERS DECIDE IN NOVEMBER about Article XI-Initiative and Referendum- Bill 257,
Draft 2
• Vote YESH ON Bill 257, Draft 2 PUT THIS MEASURE ON THE BALLOT and let citizens decide.
WE SUPPORT this charter amendment. Some of the changes to ARTICLE XI are:
1. Has new guidelines for verifying signatures.
2. That the total of qualified signatures is 10% of the voters who voted in the last Mayoral election.
3. The ballot question is written by the Petitioners committee.
4. The petition circulators need to sign a statement but not get the petitions notarized.
5. Defines when the measure becomes law.
6. The chronological order of the new amendment.
7. That a non-vote has no effect on the issue.
PLEASE PASS BILL 257 AND PUT IT ON THE BALLOT TO LET CITIZENS DECIDE in November of 20081
