Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 564-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 564-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 268, by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 1087, dated March 12, 2008, authorizes the Office of
the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation for
a Data grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Public Affairs -Safe Community Program,
has authorized a $30,000 Data Grant to the Hawaii County Police Department, which will be
used to continue their efforts to establish a statewide traffic data system and to ensure
compliance with national standards.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with federal or state governments respecting action to be
taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or
other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 564-08,
and recommends its adoption.
