No. 1029 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> <br /> TIME: 9:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 1029, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 1029, from Mayor Harry Kim, dated February 11, 2008, nominates <br /> Mr. Amos Meyers, Jr. of Council District 6 to serve on the County of Hawaii Transportation <br /> Commission. <br /> Mr. Meyers is a six-year resident of Hawaii. He is a former educator with the East Pennsboro <br /> <br /> Area School District in Enola, Pennsylvania from 1968 to 1998. Mr. Meyers is a current <br /> <br /> member of the Ka`u Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Hawaii County Committee <br /> <br /> on Aging. He is a volunteer at the Volcanoes National Park and helps with various community <br /> <br /> activities at Volcano's Cooper Center. If confirmed, Mr. Meyers will serve a term to end on <br /> <br /> December 31, 2012, replacing Mr. John Lockwood, whose term expired on December 31, 2007. <br /> Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida commended Mr. Meyers for his willingness to serve, and <br /> spoke in favor of his nomination and seeks the support of the Council members. Council <br /> member Bob Jacobson is looking forward to the Transportation Commission's recommendation <br /> addressing transportation needs. <br /> The Committee agreed that Mr. Meyers does not have to appear before the Council for final <br /> <br /> confirmation. <br /> PWIRC RPT. 58 <br /> <br />
