SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
KUAKINI HIGHWAY BETWEEN PALANI ROAD AND HUALALAI ROAD
PROPOSED BICYCLE LANE
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 9 Bicycles, Section 24-
294, Schedule 42 Bicycle lanes, subsection (f) Kona be amended by adding new item:
KUAKINI HIGHWAY BOTH SIDES, BETWEEN PALANI ROAD AND
HUALALAI ROAD.
This amendment is necessary due to the added bicycle facility as a part of the Kuakini
Highway Improvements: Palani Road to Hualalai Road. This particular bike lane is
identified in the September 2003 edition of the Bike Plan Hawaii as a project that is
underway and will serve as a continuation of the bicycle facility from the Old Kona
Airport to Palani Road.
