SUBJECT: Transmitting Bill 262, Draft 3 (a proposed charter amendment relating to
establishing an independent audit function with the legislative branch
through of the Office of the Legislative Auditor)
Attached please find draft 3 of Bill 262, relating to establishing an independent audit
function within the legislative branch through the Office of the Legislative Auditor. ]his
draft contains the amendment to Draft 2 of this bill that was made by the Council during
its meeting on April 22, 2008.
Specifically, the Council amended SECTION 7 of draft 2 of this bill to provide that
should it be approved by the voters, this Charter amendment shall take effect on
December 1, 2008 at 1:00 pm. As amended, this section now reads:
"SECTION 7. Upon its approval by a majority of voters in the 2008
general election, the charter amendment proposed in this ordinance shall
take effect on December 1, 2008 at 1:00 p.m."
