Re: C-17 Flyovers on the Big Island of Hawaii

1 am an adopted daughter of the aina, a resident of Kailua Kona, a
writer and adoctor of psychology and cultural anthropology. Many of the
adults, teens, and elders who I see and help on a daily basis, are stressed
out.
They're stressed out by an economy that includes a U. S. federal
budgetthat
* Spends 49 cents of every dollar for the Military.
* Another 4 cents is spent on helping our war veterans
* And 2 cents of every dollar We as United States citizens, earn and
are taxed to pay for these atrocities, is spent on National Defense-related
matters they can't even identify. That stresses me out, and I'm in the
business of helping get unstressed.
Over half of every U. S. dollar goes toward violence, conflict, and the
C-17s we're talking about today. I'm going to call them the "boomerang"
planes because they are such a violation of the laws of nature that's it's
stressing us all out, and these planes will boomerang back on you as more
people come to the aid of the Aloha Independence Movement.
In the spirit of Aloha, we choose peace. We choose to be
compassionate and wise and live in health and harmony. We choose to be
pono.
So, to the respected U. S. Military, to the honorable Hawaiian state
legislature, to the government of the United States, these planes will be the
boomerang that will circle back on you. There is such a strong emotional
movement, a powerful wave of people, people who love Hawaii, including
the kanaka maoli, the honored kupuna of the island, adopted children of
Gomm.

Hawaii, and friends and family all around the world, who want to stand up
for Aloha.
Your C-17s would curtail our freedom to have peace and experience
Aloha. That is a threshold you cannot cross. Our fragile ecology is unique in
all the world, and the delicate balance of human and nature is endangered.
Only by moving toward a peace economy can we survive, can anyone
survive.
The synergy of local production, tourism, and service industries that
we've nurtured over the last decades will be negatively affected by these
airplanes.
But it's more than just these C-17s. In the last year, we, ordinary
citizens, have had to rally repeatedly to respond to your interventions into
our lives. The Strykers, the Superferry, Depleted Uranium, and now C-17s.
Why should we have to fight you for the right of farmers to farm
their own lands uncontaminated by your noise, fuel, and mega-tons flying
through the air. Low-flying military jets don't belong here.
When I look at the sky in Hawaii, and when my grandchildren look up
into the cobalt heavens, I want them to see the bright and beautiful
rainbows, the ones Mark Twain said were "like the children of the sun and
rain." Not C-17s zooming past
But colorful bows of light that arc and fly up into the sky, enchanting
the imagination, bringing life-giving, clean rain to the crops, and traveling
through the purified air that we must breathe to stay healthy, happy, and
pono.
Not C-17s zooming past.
But the right to peace, our right to liberty, our right to rainbows.
The C-17s are a boomerang, honored Council, Colonel Torres,
because as it comes back to you, it will carry more voices of more and more
people who are rising up to stop you, not against you, but for Aloha.
