Subject: Low Level C-17 Training Flights
Aloha Councilmember Yagong,
Thank you for addressing the issue of Low Level C-17 Training Flights with the urgency and concern it deserves.
I think that low level flights over any part of the island would be a big mistake; but over populated areas, it would
be an outrage.
We live on Saddle Road on the West side. When the area around Saddle is socked in with fog, the military
helicopters flying to Bradshaw Air Force Base fly very low above the trees that follow Saddle Road. We can
understand why they do this; its a landmark and a visual means of making it to Bradshaw. It is, however, very
loud and seems as though our roof top might at any moment be snagged and carried away.
For thislow level flying to become a routine corridor flown on a regular basis, it would be detrimental to the
residents and to the land values along the route. There are good reasons the FAA set minimum flight standards,
and the military should not feel above complying with the same standards.
