Thank you for this opportunity to express my views on this issue. My name is Jacqueline Home,
I am the owner and Innkeeper for Waipio Wayside B&B (the second legal B&B on the Big Island). I am
also a past president of the Hawaii Island Bed and Breakfast association having served over eight years
on HIBBA's board of directors.
Today I am representing myself as a small business owner.
This June Waipio Wayside Bed and Breakfast is entering it's 20th year as a legal B&B in Honokaa
Hawaii. I have had the very good fortune of hosting thousands of people over these past nineteen plus
years.
And with my past experience there is one thing 1 know forcertain.
If a visitor to the Big Island has a good vacation experience they will tell 10 friends. If on the other hand
they have a bad experience they will tell 100 strangers. In fact they will will tell just about anyone who will
listen.
We are all of us visitors and residents alike reeling from the closure of Aloha and ATA airlines and the
negative impact this has had on our families, friends, clients and businesses.
Allowing low flying air planes to dominate our air space seems to be one more step on the ladder of short
sightlessness that continues to plague Hawaii. It is a step that has the potential to permanently damage our
tourism industry and destroy our peaceful way of life.
The military has options - we as small business do not.
I am absolutely against this proposal. Thank you or your time and consideration,
