Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to add the Waikoloa Road Shoulder
Improvements, Mamalahoa Highway to Paniolo Avenue (at various locations).
Shoulder excavation and paving of portions of Waikoloa Road are included in
this project.

A. REQUEST:
Amendment to Ordinance Bill 97-82 to add Waikoloa Road Shoulder
Improvements, Mamalahoa Highway to Paniolo Avenue (At Various
Locations). Work to include shoulder excavation and paving of portions
of Waikoloa Road. Estimated cost for design is $50,000.00. The Federal
share is $40,000.00 and the County share is 10,000.00.
The estimated cost for construction is $1,200,000.00. The Federal share
is $960,000.00 and the County share is $240,000.00. See attached County
of Hawaii Project Data / Financial Impact Statement.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS A NE D D1:
On January 7, 1998, the State DOT had approved the programming for
design of Federal-Aid Project No. STP-0191(002), Waikoloa Road Shoulder
Improvements, Mamalahoa Highway to Paniolo Avenue (At Various
Locations).
