We have a total of 8 stores on the Big Island - 5 <br /> ACE Hardware Stores, 2 combination ACE-Crafts Stores and 1 Ben Franklin Crafts <br /> Store. <br /> <br /> We are opposed to the rezoning of the Keaau parcel 3-1-6-3:5 from Light Industrial to <br /> Retail. A bypass road is meant to bypass traffic and let cars flow through more smoothly. <br /> Allowing retail development by the bypass will slow traffic down and it will not fulfil its <br /> purpose. <br /> <br /> As you may know, business in Hawaii has been tough. When this bypass goes through, <br /> we will suffer some loss of business due to the decline of traffic by our Keaau ACE <br /> Hardware Store. But we have not opposed the bypass because it is good for the <br /> community. We do oppose this rezoning because we do not think that it is good for the <br /> community or for the local retail businesses in Keaau. <br /> <br /> We humbly ask that you turn down this request for rezoning.
