Included in this project is a proposed left turn lane and traffic signal <br /> improvements at the Ponahawai Street/Kilauea Avenue intersection. <br /> <br /> In order to proceed with these improvements, 9 metered stalls on the Puna side of Ponahawai Street will be <br /> affected, 3 stalls between Kinoole Street and Kilauea Avenue, and 6 stalls between Kilauea Avenue and <br /> Kamehameha Avenue. A location map is attached. <br /> <br /> We conducted a parking survey along the Puna side of Ponahawai Street between Kilauea Avenue and <br /> Kamehameha Avenue and found approximately 39% of the existing 22 stalls not being utilized. We also <br /> observed that utilization of the 7 stalls between Kinoole Street and Kilauea Avenue was minimal. The existing <br /> parking stalls on the Hamakua side of Ponahawai Street will not be affected. <br /> We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment.
