SUBJECT: ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE
RELATING TO SEWER
In response to comments received at the 6/2/98 meeting of the Public Works and Parks
Committee, we have amended the previously submitted bill and have attached another proposed
ordinance for your review and consideration. The amendment would delete all exceptions to
connection requirements for lots accessible to a sewer. The amendment also eliminates the
option for private developers to pay the full cost of having the County construct sewer
extensions. This provision was very unlikely to ever be used since the cost and time constraints
for having the County perform the work would be prohibitive to a developer.
We ask for your consideration in adopting the subject ordinance. Should you have any
