Re: Sewer hook up on Kalanikoa Street
My name is Ronald Nuke, I have a Rental Home on 600 Kalanikoa Street. In 1992, 1
received a letter from the Department of Puhlic Works requiring us to hook up into the sewer line
within 120 days after being notified by the Chief Engineer or the Department of health.
After watching the County Council Meeting on Television. I was very distraught to see
that some people were exempt and some people had to hookup, I am one of them that had to
hook up to the sewer system in 1993 and had to take a 13ome E uityl.o n to pay for this hook
up and not only that, 1 am paying every other month for the sewer waste bill which is now
$50.00. I understand that a lot of elderly people live it) the Kalanikoa Subdivision or any other
subdivision which are now requiring Residents to hook up. And I truly understand that they are
a lot of elderly people who are on fixed income auid 1 understand there point of view, because it
is not cheap to do this hook up but what about all of us who did have to hook up, what about.

The urncern that I have, is the fairness to this matter. 'I was under the impression
that everyone had to be hooked up to the County Sewer Line. I am still in debt and plus every
other month I'm getting a bill which will never go away. And as Councilman Aaron Chung
mentioned, J Ioel (hat he was on the right target that everybody should pay for it and not only us
who had to hook up. Because it you really think about it-for instance..
The Public School System, which all tax payer pay for, even though they don't have any kids or
who may he going to a Private School in that matter, but we are all paying for it, so the same
should be for this Waste Water System.
I don't believe the people who hooked up should be paying for sewer tee if everybody
don't have to hook up. If there is no fairness. then I would tike some kind of redemption for all
the years t paid sewer fee and hook up.
