Change of Zone Ordinance No. 95-70 (REZ 798)
I support Kealakekua Development Corporation's (KDC) project because this is an
example of an environmentally responsible project.
KDC has already embarked on an ongoing reforestation program. KDC has been
working closely with Konawaena High School's agricultural department in testing fruit
trees, test ag and other related projects.
I applaud KDC's 200 acre ag park concept at the 3,800 foot elevation. This would give
an opportunity to local groups of farmers to pursue different ag crops at higher elevations.
I don't know of another developer who has made such a commitment to the community.
KDC's golf course will also allow opportunities for the youth of Hawaii through the Jr.
Golf program. Lastly, I believe this is a quality project, a win, win situation for all.
Please approve KDC's Change of Zone application extension.
