02-76. as amended, the Operating Budget ending June 30.2003. "I~he amendment is as fi~llows:

The Department of Research and Development will be receiving funds from the State of
Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority in support of the Counties' Erecting Program throughout
the State of Hawaii to address the increasing number of cruise ships calling at 1 lawai'i ports.
Pursuant to Section 46-1. Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-I i(b). I lawai'i County
Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the
program(s).
Some members of Your Committee were concerned over the funding allocations at I lilo Flarbor_
Kailua Pier and Kona International Airport Ms. Mesta stated they are still in negotiation and will
notify Your Committee as soon as inl~irmation is received.
For informational purposes. Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord Nith the purpose and intent of Bill No. R and
recommends it pass first reading.
