These additional funds will be used to hire a sexual assault nurse examiner coordinator to
manage and coordinate this program.
Pursuant to Section 46-7. Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section L3-13(b). I lawai`i Cuunt~
Charter, the Mayor is already authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for this
program identified in the Operating Budget.
Captain .lames Day of the Hawaii County Police Department clarified the Director ofl~inancc
William Takaha's letter dated .lanuary 7, 2002 by pointing out that the funds will be used to
provide training to update the coordinator and assistant rather U)an hiring a sexual assault nurse
examiner coordinator.
Your Committee nn Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 9 and
recommends it pass first reading.
