Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 82 transmitted by
Mayor Harry Kim dated December 23.2002_ reports as follows:
Communication No. 82 recommends the appointment of the following individual to the l lawaii
County Water Board (formerly known as the Water Commission) to serve a teen ending on
December 31.2007:
Mr. Leonard'I~anaka, of no political affiliation, is a lifelong resident of Hawaii who will
be representing Council District 3.
He is a self=employed electrical contractor, and presently servo as a Bishop Ibr the
Ainaloa Ward ofthe Latter Day Saints Church. He is a current member and tbrnur board
memher of the I Iawai'i Island ConU~actors Association. 1 le also served as the chair of the
County of I lawaii Planning Commission.
Pursuant to Section 8-2, Hawaii County Charter, the ma}'or shall appoint members to the Water
Board to be confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on the appoinUnent.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of
Mr. Leonard Tanaka to the Hawaii Count~~ Water Board.
