Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 82 transmitted by
Mayor Harry Kim dated December 23, 2002, reports as follows:
Communication No. 82 recommends Use appointment of Uie following individual to the E lawaii
County Water Board (formerly known as the Water Commission) to serve a term ending on
December 31.2007:
Mr. Loren Heck, of no political affiliation, is a l~-year resident of Hawaii who will he
representing Council District 6.
Mr. Heck is the owner of New Fields Nursery and Protea Farm, and currently serves as
president of the H.O.V.I~:. Road Corporation, treasurer of the Ocean Vicw Development
Corporation, and vice-president of the Ocean Vicw Garden Club. 1 le is a current member
and former president of the Hawaii Ocean View Community Association, and a current
member of the Neighborhood Watch Patrol.
Pursuant to Section 8-2, Hawaii County ('hartcr, the mayor shall appoint members to the Water
Board to he confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on the appointment.
Your Committee on Planning reconunends the approval of the appoinUncnt of Mr. Loren I leek to
the Hawaii County Water Board.
