Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 23-U3. reports as follows:
Resolution No. 23-03. transmitted jointly with Bill No. 27 b~ Director of Finance
William Takaba. via Communication No. 60. dated December 19, 200?. authorises the Office of
the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of l Iawai'i Department of Transportation,
Public Affairs Oflice -Safe Community Program for aDrinking/Driving Community I?ducation
Campaign grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of'I~ransportation, Public Affairs Ofticc Safe Community
Program has authorized a $3.000 grant to the Police Department to purchase office supplies.
miscellaneous supplies such as banners, bumper stickers, office space rental and travel expenses.
fhe goal of this program is to reduce DUI related crashes, injuries, arrests, and citations in the
District of Ka'u.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, E Iawai'i Revised Statutes, county deparUnenls must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects heing or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Kesolution No. ?3-03
and recommends its adoption.
