Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 25-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 25-03, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 29 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 62, dated December 17. 2002, authorizes the Office of
the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of l lawai'i Department of Transportation,
Public Affairs Office-Safe Community Program for an Equipment/'Draining Program grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of hransportation. Public Affairs Office - Satc Communiq~
Program has authorized a $6,245 grant to the Police Department to purchase equipment to
improve the quality of the alcohol and speed related fatal traffic crash investigations by obtaining
the necessary tools and training to record, document, evaluate, process and investigate crime
scenes and the evidence.
Pursuant to Section 46-7. Hawaii Revised Statutes. county departments must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to
he taken pursuant to any ofihe powers granted by law to furnish, cspend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects heing or to he undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 25-03
and recommends its adoption.
