These funds from the State of I lawai'i Department of Transportation, Public Affairs Oflice-
Safe Community Program will be used to purchase equipment and supplies to educate the
community on the [MPAC'f (Incorporating Measures to Prevent Alcohol Consumption by
teens) program. The goals of this program are to reduce alcohol consumption by youths in our
community and to increase awareness by parents, youths, and the conununit}'.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b). Hawaii County
Charter, the bill authorizes the Mayor to apply for. receive and expend the funds for a Project
IMPACT program.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Rill No. 2R and
recommends it pass first reading.
