No. 02-76. as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2003. l~hc amendment is as

These funds from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation. Public Affairs Office -
Sa[e Community Program will he used by the Police Department to increase pedestrian safety by
conducting training sessions for school crossing guards.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b). Hawaii County
Charter, the bill authorizes the Mayor to apply for, receive and expend the funds for a Crossing
Guard Training program.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 30 and
recommends it pass first reading.
