Puna County Complex 110-199-5190.03 $125Q000
Funds for this project shall be provided from general obligation bonds. capital prgjects, fund-fund halancc and/or
athersources.
funds will be used for the planning, the rile selection/acquisition, and the design of a County scrv ice complex.
Construction of the complex will be funded by future appropriations. The Puna County Complex is imended to
provide police. fire, parks and recreation, and other governmental services tix the Puna district.
Originally heard on .lanuary 7.2003, this measure was deferred pending a presentation b} die Mayor.
At its meeting on January 22, 2003, the Mayor advised your commi~tce that the County needs to star) a planning
mechanism that would help development in the Puna area. W ilh this appropriation, the Count} could complete a
very good working plan fur the cummunih.
Due to the lateness of the January 33, 2003 Committee meeting, this measure was deferred.
Today. Council Member Safarik informed Your Committee that while Hie community is in support of the
measure, the priority of the cumm~unity at this time would be the Pahoa Village Resources Park adjacent to
Akebuno Theatre.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord vaith the purpose and intent of Bill No. 33 and recommends it pass first
reading.
