Your Committee on Parks & Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No. 180,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 180 is transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 20, 2003, submitting for confirmation the
nomination of Ms. Penny M. Fox and Mr. Roy T. Hinokawa to the County of Hawaii Veterans Advisory Committee.
Penny M. Fox is a six-year resident of Hawaii and serves as the local Commander for the liawai`i Island Women Veterans
Association (HI W VA). To set the record straight, Ms. Fox is not the secretary but serves as a State Executive Committee
member for the Disabled American Veterans. Also, she does not currently serve with the American Legion but has served
as a Commander in California and I Ionolulu in the past. Ms. Fos states that she is not at7iliated with any political park and.
ifcontinned, she will serve a term t~~ expire on December 31, 2007.
Roy T. Hinokawa is representing the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and is being nominated for a second term. He
has shown integrity and diligence in representing the DAV. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31.
2007.
Pursuant to Chapter I5, Article 7, Section I5-61, Hawaii County Code, as amended, there shall be a Veterans Advisory
Committee composed of fifteen members, who shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Environmental Management recommends confirmation of Ms. Penny M. Fox and Mr. Ro}
T. Hinokawa. to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory Committee to serve a term to expire December 31.2007.
