Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 222. reports as follows:
Cumnumicatirnt No. 222, transmitted by Uircctxx of Finance William Takaha-dated April I6. 2003. authorizes
the acceptance of donations fi~om Mr. Alan Martins, the Kamehameha Schools - Hamakuu I'resch0ol, and the
Wal-Mart Hilo.
Mr. Alan Martins has graciously donated ten gallons of waterborne paim to the Department of Parla & Kecreation
for the repainting of the blue line and gutters at NAS Pool. The value of this donation is estimated at $ 180.00.
The Kamehameha Schools - I lanutkua Preschool has graciously donated $2s.00 to the Deparhncnl 0f I'arl.s &
Recreation, for educational programs at the Pana'ewa Rainforest 700.
Wal-Mart I lilo has graciously donated $30.00 to the Department of Parks & Recreation fix the purchase of
supplies for the aquatics Division'v nmerican Red Cross classes to the comnumil~.
Pursuant to Atticlc XIII, Section I ~-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council. on hehalfofthe County. may
accept gifts or donations of personal property.
also, pursuant to Chapter 2, article 30, Section 2-162 (c), 0f the I lawai'i Counh Code. any donation or gift
which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance shall he submitted to the
council by leucr for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will he sent to Mc Alan Martins, 2229 Ainakahele Street. Hilo. Hawaii 9672f1; the
Kamehameha Schools - Hamakua Preschool, Ms. Margaret Johnson, N.O. I3os 362. Pa'auilo. I lawai'i 96776; and
Wal-Mart Hilo, Ms. Laura Costa, 325 I':. Maka'ala Street, Hilo. Hawaii 96720.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the ten gallons of watcrhornc paim fiom
Mr. Alan Martins, the $25.00 donation from the Kamehameha Schools- Hama6ua Preschool and the $30.00
donation from WaI-Mart Hilo.
