Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance- to which was referred Resolution Nu. 71-03. reports as fi~llo~~s: <br />Resolution No.71-03. transmitted by Mayor I-Tarry Kim. via ('ommunication No. 233, dated <br />April 24, 2003, commits to ftmding the cost items awarded to the Hawaii Fire Fighters <br />Association ([iFFA) by arhitration, atiecting Fire Fighters in Bargaining l Init 11 ibr the amiract <br />period .luly l , 2003 through ,lone 3(1. 2005. <br />l~he estimated cost to the County of Hawaii for negotiated cost items including adjustment to <br />wages, overtime and meal allowances will be $3.723.113. additional adjusUnents such as <br />employer's contribution to the Employee Retirement System- vacation, holiday, and sick Ica~~e <br />reparations will increase the total cost to $3,156.833. The operating budget tier Fiscal Year 3004 <br />and Fiscal Year 2005 will include a pro~~ision for these adjustments. <br />Pursuant to Section 89-I 1(c) and (gl of the -lawai'i Rey°ised Statutes relating to collecli~r <br />bargaining, the employer must submit all cost items resulting from binding arbitration ~~ithin ten <br />days after the date on which the agreement is entered into the appropriate Icgislatice bodies. <br />Some members of Your Committee expressed budgetary concerns as to how the county ~+ill <br />finance the added cost ti~itlwut raising taxes. <br />For informational purposes.
