Resolution No. 8d-03. transmitted by Director of Finance William 'I~akaba, cia Communication
No. 27_+. dated June 17.2(103. authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with
I.aupahoehoc High and Elementary School for a ~fitle V Juvenile Delinquency Prevention
Program.
In Januar}~ 2003_ the County Council passed Resolution No. 15-03 and Ordinance No. 03-li,
accepting and appropriating these grant funds to create or expand prevention program(s) that
address juvenile delinquency risk factors identified in the I lawai'i County comprehensive
strategic plan ibrjuvenile justice. 'fhe Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has solicited and has
rccci~°cd proposals from organizations to assist in its Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Program.
I.aupahoehoe f ligh and f{Icmcntar~ School's proposal was selected to expand their Nati~'c
I Iawaiian Community-f3a~cd 1?ducation Learning Center program.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, I lawai'i Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or stag governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to am of (he powers grained by law to furnish, expend and receive anv funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
pmvcrs.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution Uo. 8d-U i
and rcconunends its adoption.
