Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 8~-03. reports as follows:

No. 276_ dated .lone 27. 2003_ authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Friends of the
700.
fhe Friends ofthe loo has graci0uslc donated a Primadome, wfiich is a primate enclosure,
approximately 23 lect high h} 3d feet in diameter. that will house the Colobus monkees. to the
Ucparunent of Parks & Recreation for the Pana'ewa Rainlorest 700. l~he ealuc of this donation
is estimated at $i ;,045.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Srction 13-12. I [awai'i County Charter. the Council on hchalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
During its discussion. Your Conuniucc learned that the I~ricnds of the 70o conducted fundraisers
and accepted monetary donations for this generous donation. Also, volunteers and community
organizations will be helping to huild the Primadome.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Jean Curtis. President Friends of the 700. P.O. Box
7,K, Kea'au, I IaNai'i 96749. ackno~~ledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. KS-03
and recommends its adoption.
