The Department of F,nvironmental Management will be receiving additional funds trom the State
of Ilawai'i Department of Health for its Glass Recycling Program. which operates and maintains
the glass recycling drop-off facilities for the public, provides glass "buy-back' opportunities Ibr
generators of glass, and develops and maintains public education that promotes glass recovery
and encourages parlicipa~ion.
Pursuant to Section -16-7. Hawaii Rccised Statutes. and Section 13-1:+1b). Hawaii County
Charter, the Mayor is alrcadv authoriicd to apply for. receive and upend the funds for this
program idcnlitied in the Operating Budget.
l'ow' Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 127 and
recommends it pass first reading.
