fhc Police Department will be recei~ ing additional funds from the State of I lawai'i Department
of I Iuman Services-Uflice of Youth Services to fund the Youth Gang Response System v`hich
includes the components ot~law entia~eement and gang intelligence; information sharing and
collaboration; establishment of public a~~areness programs; school and communih~-based
prevention and intervention programs. and research and evaluation.
Pursuant to Section 46-7. Ha~~ai'i Revised Statutes. and Section 13-13(h). Hawaii Counh~
Charter, the Mayor is ahead}~ authoriied to apply for, receive and expend the funds hx this
program identified in the Operating Budget.
Your Conunittee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 132 and
recommends it pass first reading.
