donation fmm the I lawai'i t'omnnuuh Foundation.
I~he I tawai'i Communih Foundation has graciously donated $10.000 to the Oflice of
Managemem for the Hawai i Island biethamphetamine Seminar. l~he Seminar, which eras a
tallow-up to the one hdd last year in Waikaloa. focused on comnnmity-based solutions to the
devastating problem of crystal mcthamphetamine or ICI?.
Pursuant to Article XI11, Section I3-1 2, Hawaii County Charter, the Council on hehall of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of nxmev. securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or am' interest in real estate.

acknowledging this generous donation.
Some members of lour Committee were concerned that the summit was held on August ?>,
2003, prior to the appropriation heing Rxwardal to the Council Also. some members of Your
Committer expressed a gencrnl sentiment that the administration has failed to include council
members in the process of tornndating. coordinating and implementing this program. Council
members ha~c been working with their communities. they are the polio-Hulking hock mx1 want
to he part ofthc solution.

appropriated in anticipation ol'this donation. and that he is gratclul that the I lawai'i Community
Poundulion was able to help reimburse the count} for some of the cost of the summit.
