William Takaba, via Communication No. 335, dated September 2, 2003, amends Ordinance
No. 03-91, as amended. the Operating Budget. ending June 30, 2004. The amendment is as
follows:

These funds from the U.S. Department of "I~ransportation, through the State of Hawaii
Department of 7~ransportation. Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program will be used to
purchase three digital cameras to increase the effectiveness and professionalism of Use
Community Policing Officers in Kona.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes. and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County
Charter. the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for a
Community Policing program.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord wide the purpose and intent of Bill No. 144 and
recommends it pass first reading.
