Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 101-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 101-03. transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 337, dated September 3, 2003, creates a Housing and Community Development
Specialist 1V position and a Housing and Community Development Specialist 111 position for the
Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD).
These positions are needed to adequately meet the demands of the new U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development's Family Sclf-Sufficiency and I Iomeownership programs, and
of the additional 100 housing choice vouchers recently awarded to OHCD. "fhe OHCD has also
applied for 50 Mainstream Vouchers, which arc targeted to provide housing assistance for
Persons with Disabilities.
These positions will be created to continue as long as there are lederal administration funds to
provide for the two new positions. and to implement the programs.
fhe Office of Housing Administrator Ed "Taira was not able to attend today's meeting. However,
Council Member Safarik reiterated the necessity of these positions and the increased level of
efficiency to meet the needs of OHCD.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 101-03
and recommends its adoption.
