Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 108-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 108-03, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 151 by Director of Finance William
Takaba, via Communication No. 354, dated September 19, 2003, authorizes the acceptance of a
donation from the Hawaii Alliance for Community Based Economic Development.
7~he Hawaii Alliance for Community Based Economic Development has graciously donated
$19,000 to the Department of Research & Development towards the administering and the
operating of the Hawaii County Resource Center (HCRC).
fhe HCRC links Hawaii Island communities to county government and works to facilitate
collaborative efforts and to empower them to locate, secure. and utilize all available resources
and technologies to achieve greater strength and increased funding.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money. securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the I lawai'i Alliance for Community Based Economic
Development, c/o Mr. Bob Agres. Executive Director, 677 Ala Moana Boulevard Suite 702,
I lonolulu, Hawaii 96813, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 108-03
and recommends its adoption.
