Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 107-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 107-03, transmittedjoinUy with Bill No. 150 by Director of Finance William
Takaba, via Communication No. 353, dated September 19, 2003, authorizes the acceptance of a
donation from Wal-Mart Hilo.
Wal-Mart Hilo has graciously donated $750.00 to the Hawaii County Fire Department for the
purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire
Prevention Week in the month of October and of F,mergency Medical Services (EMS) Wcek in
the month of May of next year.
Pursuant to Article XI[f. Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter. the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money. securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate.
A letter of appreciation will he sent to Mr. Glenn Schneider. Manager, Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E.
Maka'aIa Street. Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 107-03
and recommends its adoption.
