Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 1 I5-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 1 I5-03, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 367, dated September 30, 2003, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of
morc than one fiscal year for amulti-year lease for a copy machine.
The Data Systems Department wishes to enter into a tive-year lease agreement for a copy
machine. As their current 12 year old copy machine is considered obsolete by the company that
provides the maintenance, replacement parts may no longer be available for fixing the machine.
Funds would be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated costs.
Pursuant to Section 10-1 1. Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 1 15-03
and recommends its adoption.
