Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No_ 117-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 1 17-03, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 161 by Director of Finance
William Takaba. via Communication No. 371, dated October 7, 2003, authorizes the acceptance
of a donation from the Wal-Mart Kona.
The Wal-Mart Kona has graciously donated $1.500.00 to the Hawaii County Fire Department
for the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of
Fire Prevention Week, October 2003 and of F,mergency Medical Services (FMS) Week in the
month of May 2004.
Pursuant to Article Xlll, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other personal property or of real
estate or any interest in real estate.
A letter of appreciation will he sent to Ms. Mary .lane Ewing, Manager, Wal-Mart Kona,
75-1015 Henry Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 1 17-03
and recommends its adoption.
