Your Committee on Parks and Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication No. 401,
with resolution 124-03, reports as follows:
Communication No. 401 is from Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel, dated October 22, 2003,
transmitting Resolution No. 124-03 for the Council's review and consideration. A friendly amendment from
Council Member .I. Curtis Tyler. I11, added language to include a thank you letter to W.H. Shipman, Limited.
Resolution 124-03, Draft 2, incorporates the additional language and accepts the dedication of I .I 12 acres,
more or less, to the County of Hawaii for the Kea'au Community Center from W.H. Shipman, Limited.
This parcel is situated at Kea'au, District of Puna, County and State of Hawaii and identitied by Tax Map
Key (3)I-6-143-41.
Pat Engelhard. Director of Parks and Recreation, answered liability concerns raised by Council members
about the Kea'au Community Center and assured the Council that the Department of Parks and Recreation
has plans and funding for continuing ifs use as a community center.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution 124-03, DratY 2, and recommends its
adoption.
