Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 135-03, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 135-03, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 429, dated December 1, 2003, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Solution
2003 -Neighborhoods in Action.
The Solution 2003 -Neighborhoods in Action has graciously donated six sets of lock displays
for the Hawaii County Police Department's Community Policing Officers to educate the
community on how to slow burglar entry, to deter some crime, and to protect their homes and
businesses better. The value of this donation is estimated at $565.
Pursuant to Article X[II, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Solution 2003 -Neighborhoods in Action, c/o Ms.
Lillian Beaufrere, 73-1403 Kaika Place, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 9674Q, acknowledging this
generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 135-03
and recommends its adoption.
