Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 463, reports as follows:
Communication No. 463, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated .lanuary 9. 2004, nominates
Ms. Jan K. Yokoyama and Mr. Mark F'. Fujimoto to serve on the County of Hawaii Liquor
Commission.
Council District 2 - A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Ms. Yokoyama is currently a public health
nurse with the State of Hawaii. Department of Health. She has served as a past board member
of the American Diabetes Association of Hawaii, past president of the Hawaii Association of
Diabetes Educators, and a past member of the Board of Physical Therapy. She currently serves
as the treasurer for the Hawaii Alliance for Community Health, and is the block coordinator for
the Kaumana Cave Neighborhood Watch. A member ofthe Democratic Party, she will serve a
term to end December 31, 2008. replacing Mr. Gary Yoshiyama, whose term expired on
December 31.2003.
Council District 8 - A lifetime resident of I~lawai'i, Mr. Mark F. Fujimoto is currently employed
by HPM Building Supply. He serves as District Director for the Aloha Council and as a director
for the Kona Exchange Club. Mr. Fujimoto previously served on the [.iquor Commission from
1989-1993. Of nn political party affiliation, he will serve a term to end December 31, 200R.
replacing Mr. Earl Eckart, whose term expired on December 31, ?003.
Pursuant to Article VH, Chapter 3, Section 7-3.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a
liquor commission consisting of nine members who shall be appointed by the Mayor and
confirmed by the council in the manner prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County
Charter.
Ms..Ian K. Yokoyama did not attend today's meeting due to a prior commitment.
Votes for the appointment for Ms. Jan K. Yokoyama. AYES: Council Members Elarionoff,
Holschuh, .lacobson, Reynolds. '1"ulang, Tyler and Committee Chair Chung - 7, NOES: None:
ABSENT& EXCUSED: Council Members Arakaki and Safarik.

Your Committee on Finance recommends the approval of the appointment of
Ms. Jan K. Yokoyama and Mr. Mark F. Fujimoto to the County of Hawaii Liquor Commission
for terms ending December 31, 2008.
