Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 216, reports as follows:
Bill No. 216, transmitted by Council Member Michael "tulang, via Communication No. 461.
dated January 12. 2004, amends Ordinance No. 03-90, as amended, the Capital Budget, ending
June 30, 2004, by adding the following project:
FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Kaumana City Fire Hydrant System "testing 110-299-5292.40-115 $30.000
Funds for this project shall be provided from general obligation bonds, capital projects fund-fund
balance and/or other sources.
Funds will be used to identify through testing whether the fire hydrant system constructed
throughout Kaumana City Subdivision can be used for fire protection purposes.
Cun~ently, Kaumana City Subdivision has water pipes connecting the tire hydrants throughout
the subdivision with no water supplying the hydrants. With approximately 276 property owners
within the subdivision, it causes severe constraints to the Fire Department in emergencies
requiring water. "this is a preliminary step in resolving the problem and raising the level of
public safety for the area residents.
For informational purposes. Mr. Tyler voted kunalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 216 and
recommends it pass first reading.
