Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 144-04, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 144-04, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 471, dated .lanuary 20, 2004, increases the time element of Position No. 2831 Recreation
Technician III from halt-time to full-time.
Presently, this position directs diverse program activities mostly for after school hours for the
children at the I'ana'ewa Park. With the additional time, a broader age group and more diverse
activities can be planned and carried out for the community. It will also enable the staff to
develop stronger ties with business and community associations.
Funds are available in the Recreation Division Regular Salaries and Wages account
(010-500-5507.01-O1 l ).
During its discussion, Your Committee learned that the staff currently has limited partnership
and working associations with the Pana'ewa Hawaiian Home Lands Community Association,
HAOLA Inc., Queen Lili`uokalani Children Center, Hawaiian Homes, businesses and
community service organizations. With additional hours, the staff will be able to develop
stronger ties with those groups and work together to provide more for the community.
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 144-04
and recommends its adoption.
