No. 472/Bill No. 218 Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 218, reports as lollows: Bill No. 218, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 145-04, Resolution No. 146-04, and Resolution No. 147-04 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 472, dated January 22, 2004, amends Ordinance No. 03-91, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending .tune 30, 2004. The amendment is as follows: From 3303.44 Federal Grants -Community Oriented General $525,912 Policing Services -Police 3303.45 Federal Grants -Community Oriented General $192,347 Policing Services -Prosecutors 3303.46 Federal Grants -Community Oriented General $125,866 Policing Services-R&D Total $844,125 fo: O10-201-5216.16 Community Oriented Policing General $525,912 Services -Police 010-271-5271.63 Community Oriented Policing General $192,347 Services- Prosecutors 010-161-5163.03 Community Oriented Policing General $125,866 Services - R&D Total $844,125 These funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, which are passed through the Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF), will be used on three primary areas: Enforcement, Treatment. and Prevention. The goal is to improve our community capacity to effectively address the problems posed by ICE by responding to the overwhelming concerns of the community that the devastating effect that ICE or crystal methamphetamine is having on our children, our families, and our communities. Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply tor, receive and expend the funds for a Community Oriented Policing Services grant.
