Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 487, reports as follows:
Communication No. 487, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
.lanuary 28 2004, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Keali`i Ceballos, Kumu Hula
of 1lalau Keali'i O Nalani.
Mr. Keali'i Ceballos, Kumu Hula of Halau Keali'i O Nalani has graciously donated $1,500.00 to
the Department of Parks & Recreation for the Recreation Division to purchase sleeping cots to
be used by hatau members during the annual Merrie Monarch Festival and used for camping
activities during intersessions and summer fun.
Pursuant to Article Xlll, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 3Q Section 2-162(c), of the Ilawai`i County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Keali'i Ceballos, Kumu Hula of Halau Keali'i O
Nalani, 2039 Corinth Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $1.500.00 donation from
Mr. Keali'i Ceballos, Kumu F{ula of Halau Keali'i O Nalani.
