Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 538, reports as follows:
Communication No. 538, dated February 23, 2004. is from Mayor Harry Kim submitting the
appointment of Mr. Christian Alameda to serve on the County of Hawaii Planning Commission.
According to Communication No. 538, Mr. Alameda is a life-long resident of f lawai'i and is
employed as a Consultant and Behavioral Specialist for the Department of Health. He has also
served as the project coordinator for Homeless Solutions. Mr. Alameda is also not affiliated with
any political party. If confirmed, he will till the Council District 2 vacancy and serve until
December 31, 2008.
At today's meeting, several members commended Mr. Alameda's willingness to serve and spoke
in favor of his nomination. Mr. Alameda explained that he looks at serving on the Commission as
a way to give back to the community as well as a venue to contribute new ideas to the planning
process. Mc Alameda assured Committee members that his work schedule will not conflict with
his responsibilities and commitment to the commission.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of
Mr. C hristian Alameda to the Hawaii County Planning Commission for a term ending
December 31, 2008.
