Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 160-04, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 160-04. transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Patricia K. O'Toole, via
Communication No. 512, dated February 5, 2004, authorizes the acceptance of a donation of real
property from Surety Kohala Corporation; Tax Map Key No. (3) 5-4-009:001 (Por).
fhe Surety Kohala Corporation, a Ilawai`i corporation, is the owner of real property in
Honopueo, Norih Kohala, Hawaii, specifically Tax Map Key No. (3) 5-4-009:001 (por.);
consisting of approximately 8,000 square teet. Surety Kohala Corporation has graciously
donated this property to the County of Hawaii.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of real property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Surety Kohala Corporation acknowledging this generous
donation.
During its discussion, Your Committee requested Ms. O'"Goole submit a copy of the deed, which
should be attached to Resolution No. 160-04 as Exhibit B, and requested an amendment to
Resolution No. 160-04 be made prior to the next Council meeting to 1) delete, in the first
WHERfiAS clause, the words [more or less]; and 2) reference the added exhibit.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 160-04
and recommends its adoption.
