Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 543, reports as follows:
Communication No. 543, transmitted by Director of Finance William'fakaba, dated March 1,
2004, authorizes the acceptance of donations from Kuho's Kustoms.
Kubo's Kustoms has graciously donated painting supplies to the Hawaii County Police
Department, for the restoration of the department s van used by the Special Response 'T'eam
(SRT). The value of these donations is estimated at $586.57.
Pursuant to Article Xlll, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Kubo's Kustoms, Mr. Edwin Kubojiri, 133 Maka'ala
Street, Hilo, Fiawai'i 96720, acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance the painting supplies from Kubo's
Kustoms.
