Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Communication No. 504 and attached Bill No. 230, reports as follows:
Communication No. 504 and attached Bill No. 230 is from Bruce McClure, Director of Public Works, dated
February 3, 2004, submitting for authorization a reduction of [he posted speed limit from 40 MPH to 35 MPH
along Kaloko Drive.
The purpose of Bill No. 230 is to amend Chapter 24, article 10, division I, section 24-257, schedule 5 (35 mile
per hour limit), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition) to read as follows:

and to amend Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-259, schedule 7 (40 mile per hour limit), subsection (f)

According [o Communication No. 504, the need for reduction of the posted speed limit from 40 MPH to 35 MPH
is due to excessive speeding.
Your Committee recommends Bill No. 230 be filed.
